Tranont Brings Christmas Cheer To At Risk Children

Tranont Brings Cheer To Students In Need

PROVO, UTAH – When the kids of Ms. Harris’s Timpanogos Elementary class awoke on Thursday morning, they had no idea a group of Santa’s helpers would visit them bringing fun games, activities and needed classroom supplies.

To celebrate Christmas this year, the Tranont Home Office team set out to create a positive and uplifting educational experience for local students in need. The team coordinated with Ms. Harris to know exactly what needs she and the students have.

“We are a Title I school, which means that this school serves the most impoverished area of our state,” said Ms. Harris. “Many of the children eat three meals a day at school and bring food home on the weekend so they don’t go without.”

Each Tranont team member donated portions of the needed items including tissues, pens, paper, dry erase markers and even a few fun extras. On Thursday, December 14th the Tranont team headed to Timpanogos Elementary to deliver the supplies and do some fun games and activities with the students.

“Classes in other schools rely on parents for basic classroom supplies,” said Rissa Berry, wife of Tranont CEO Lorne Berry. “Ms. Harris gets no help from parents and has to provide for all classroom items out of her own pocket. This is the first time that someone else has come to this class and helped these kids.”

Ms. Harris’s students loved playing with the Tranont Team. The team divided the class into stations where they would play marshmallow Minute To Win It, a station for bingo, one for ornament decorating, and others for snowflake making and candy train creating. Tranont President, Scott Bland’s tall stature and “shiny bald head” were a particular delight to the students.

“Education is so important to us,” said Mr. Bland. “We truly want help change the lives of everyone we can by providing world-class education and tools to put education into action.”

Parents and community members can volunteer at local schools by calling the schools for more information or visiting justserve.org to find volunteer opportunities in your area.
